The sophomore mixtape from Hi-Rez dropped earlier in the week and it has completely taken off. Early Release (Sponsored by 6 blogs including our friends over at F2DD and FIA) is already closing in on 5,000 downloads on Datpiff with over 30,000 views . The 17-year old rapper from Fort Lauderdale has completely elevated his music since his freshman mixtape, ‘New Years Resolution’. You can tell that Hi-Rez is young in his music, but it plays into his playful style (think old Mac Miller) that features some serious lyrics. There’s a good collection of tracks on ‘Early Release’, but my favorites are definitely the ones that allow him to exhibit his laidback flow. There’s also some serious production on this mixtape, features some awesome samples and powerhouse producers (E.Dan of ID Labs).
