Well, here we are. By now, you should have figured out that this week was why I started this entire segment. Not just because I have over 50 of the best Ellie Goulding remixes on the Internet. No, there’s much more to it than that. It’s well beyond having the Bassnectar remix at the top of your iTunes play count or preordering Halcyon. It’s more than following her on Instagram and retweeting her daily. It’s somewhat close to listening to her Fun cover for hours on end. Yet, it falls short of spending weeks and months working on a single post. If you can say confidently you’ve done all the above, you’re not too far off from me. Welcome to the club, the view up here is fantastic. Yes, for me this is leagues ahead of Lana or Lykke. Although I don’t belt out Ellie lyrics like I do with CRJ, there’s no doubt in my mind that this obsession I’ve got going on with Goulding is beyond unhealthy. And because this is without a doubt the largest post in DML’s two-year history, I’ve decided to switch up the format a bit this week. First, you’ll notice that I didn’t copy the same introduction as I’ve done for the past several weeks. There’s just too much about this woman that I can’t liken her to talents like Florence Welch or the NERVO twins. No, this has to be as fresh and new as her spirit. You’ll also notice that I’ve divided this feature into two segments. If this is your first time really getting into Ellie’s music, your first stop should be my Top 10 remixes found below. However, if you’re like me and you’re just trying to get your regular fix in of this British starlet, then the .zip files are where you need to be. Fifty of the Internet’s greatest Ellie Goulding remixes and mashups available in four downloadable folders. Check out the .zips below to jump straight into my insanity or be a little more patient and feel the glory of the Goulding.
Still with us? Great. In the stylings of MashMonday, I’ll introduce my ten individually. Most of these are downloadable but if not, well worth the purchase.
As an original, “Salt Skin” is one of my favorite tracks by Ellie. Add in Alex Metric, who’s becoming one of my favorite remixers, and baby you’ve got a stew going. Though you can’t pick this one up as a freebie, it’s well worth your buck.
Ellie Goulding - Salt Skin (Alex Metric Remix)
Out of pure coincidence, I have five “Hanging On” edits in my Top 10. You can take that as I either really love the song (which I do) or there are absolutely incredible remixes of it (which there are). That in mind, the first of many comes from the great minds of Svyable and PRFFTT. Both are creative masterminds in their own right, however when you put them together sparks will fly.
Ellie Goulding - Hanging On (Svyable + PRFFTT Bootleg)
Let’s start this one off by sharing the fact that I listened to over a thousand remixes to create this post. This is no exaggeration, you should honestly see my Internet history. Of that thousand, I’d say about 70% of them were “Lights” remixes. If it were anyone but Ellie, I would never listen to a single note ever again. However, she runs my life and here we are. I’ve got about twenty of them for you today, but here’s my favorite “Lights” remix. The duo of Feenixpawl is one of the most underrated talents in EDM today and they absolutely shine on this one.

One of the most emotional songs off Halcyon, the ballad “I Know You Care” should be one of Goulding’s biggest singles off of the record. Though it hasn’t been around for too long, it’s still picked up a fair share of remixes. Easy Girl’s easily takes the cake as my favorite though. It’s chopped, screwed, flipped, dipped, and gorgeous. Easy Girl is an absolute must-follow after an effort like this.
Ellie Goulding - I Know You Care (EASY GIRL REMIX)
Onto our first mash. DJ Bahler & Frail Limb Purity’s XOXO project was one of the highlights of the year in the mashup game and “Highs and Lows” was a major reason why. Taking the acapella from her cover of the Weeknd, the two hipstermash titans partner her up with backing from Pantyraid, M83, Erykah Badu and more!

Jumping back to “Hanging On”, I want to reiterate the fact that no two remixes sounded the same. Each was in a different genre and style and listening to these were pleasure, not monotony. There is simply no way to describe Sound Remedy’s sound when he truly goes at it. Some describe it as a cosmic chillstep, I call it a religious experience. His take on Ellie is the stuff of musical legends in today’s day and age.
Ellie Goulding - Hanging On (Sound Remedy Remix)
Staying with the Active Child cover, one of my favorite remixes of the year goes to Tom Swoon’s effort on his own “Hanging On” edit. This song was made for progressive house and the young Polish wonder absolutely delivered. It’s got that big festival sound, while still keeping Ellie’s golden voice crisp and bubbly. The only time “crispy” and “bubbly” aren’t contradictions are when Ellie steps up to the mic, trust me.

We’re going a little back time on this next one. In May 2011, Goulding dropped by Radio 1 and dropped a cover of The Knife’s “Heartbeats”. Cosmonaut Grechko, relatively unknown at the time, stepped up to the plate and delivered one of the biggest remixes to date of Ellie’s work. This one is still played around the world and has given birth to the budding “hipster Ellie” remix treatment. Absolutely gorgeous, this one.

Our second and final mash in the top ten goes to our pal Alcala. He takes the vocals from Ellie’s tune “Under the Sheets” and mashes them seamlessly with the instrumentals from Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”. This song is an absolute beaut in its entirety, but when it picks up with the whistles it’s absolutely surreal how well the two work together.

And here we are, the best Ellie Goulding remix of all time. Bassnectar, Imma let you finish, but you don’t have anything on this joint by Minnesota. The original remix by the California producer was excellent enough, however when he dropped the VIP a couple months back, my world was in a state of awe. This synth-driven edit brings you through sonic soundscapes and states of mind previously unfelt and unfathomable. If Sound Remedy’s remix is a religious experience, this is sitting face to face with your creator. And that’s putting it lightly.
Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Minnesota VIP Remix)
If you are still reading this, you are well on your way to reaching the level of fandom I have reached. Consider yourself both educated and initiated into the exclusive brotherhood of Ellie Goulding fanatics. My labor over the past three months is now yours to share with the world.
