So this is definitely the first time in my memory that two legit mashup artists have dropped projects on the same day (White Noise and 5 & a Dime). White Noise- Mike McCourt, a 20 year old sophomore at Penn State, has just released a mammoth project that has instantly landed on the top shelf for mashup albums. He has been mashing since his junior year of high school and is the creator of one of the most recognizable mashups of all time, “Red Hot Chilipop”. WHITEOUT is a 20 track (plus an intro, interlude and outro) continuous mashup album that brings pure audio gold for over an hour and a half. WHITEOUT has been a long time coming as White Noise has been relatively quiet while diligently working on this release. He definitely does not disappoint as he packs 110+ samples into WHITEOUT (a number that would have been much higher if 9 of the tracks off WHITEOUT were not A v B mashups). He blends multi-source mashups (Girl-Talk style) with A v B mashups to create an album that can smoothly transition from “C.R.E.A.M” vs “Jumper” to say “Home” and “That Tree”. This is definitely not a release to miss, I have included 4 tracks off of the first CD and 5 off of the second CD. These 9 tracks only give you a small taste of this album and I purposely left some of my favorites off these single tracks, so I definitely suggest you go download the whole project!
